Role Purpose

The Engineer 2 – Open Pit Mine Planning is responsible for providing daily technical support to the production team, ensuring compliance with approved mining plans. The role also involves:

Monitoring and verifying pit and waste dump design parameters.
Developing weekly mine plans and Bench Operating Plans (BOPs).
Preparing production reports and coordinating with project execution teams.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

✔ Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering with relevant professional certification or licensing.

Experience:

✔ Minimum 3 years of experience in Open Pit Mine Planning.
✔ Hands-on experience in short to medium-term Open Pit Mine Planning.
✔ Proficiency in industry-standard software:

Vulcan, Datamine Studio OP, Micromine Spry, Rapid Reserver, Microsoft Office Suite.
3D modeling and mine design tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure strict adherence to Safe Working Procedures for all tasks.
Verify and report on NAF/PAF boundary compliance in mining operations.
Work collaboratively with teams to ensure efficient execution of mining plans.
Prepare and present weekly pit plans aligned with monthly targets.
Develop Bench Operating Plans (BOPs) for both short-term and long-term mining strategies.
Generate Daily Dig Plans and distribute them to the production team.
Conduct short-term planning design checks and adjustments using Vulcan/Datamine.
Monitor broken stock levels and identify operational risks or opportunities.
Assess equipment performance, productivity, and utilization and provide feedback.
Support cost analysis and budget planning for mining operations.
Assist in preparing weekly and monthly treatment schedules to ensure proper blending of ore from Open Pit and Underground sources.
