Job Overview

BRELA is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Deputy Registrar – Licensing. This role involves overseeing licensing operations, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and providing guidance on industrial and business licensing matters.

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Registrar – Licensing will be responsible for:

  1. Administering the National Industries (Licensing and Registration) Act No. 10 of 1967 and the Business Licensing Act of 1972.
  2. Providing expert advice on industrial and business licensing regulations.
  3. Supervising and managing all operations within the Licensing Directorate.
  4. Coordinating and preparing recommendations for the Industrial Licensing Board.
  5. Reviewing and approving feasibility studies submitted by potential investors.
  6. Collaborating with other institutions on licensing matters.
  7. Offering technical guidance to investors regarding licensing procedures.
  8. Managing and maintaining the official licensing register.
  9. Contributing to the development of strategic plans, budgets, and operational frameworks.
  10. Overseeing the preparation and distribution of performance reports.
  11. Reviewing, approving, suspending, or revoking industrial and business licenses as necessary.
  12. Coordinating with Regional and District Trade Offices to streamline the licensing process through online platforms.
  13. Performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: Economics, Law, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Statistics, International Trade, Economics and Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, or Business Administration from a recognized institution.
  • The Master’s Degree must align with the candidate’s Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience, with at least a senior-level position.

Salary and Benefits

Compensation will be based on the BRELA Salary Scale.
