Role Overview
As the Country Manager for our express business in Tanzania, you will be responsible for steering our growth and ensuring operational excellence. Your leadership will drive profitable expansion, robust cash flow, and market dominance while upholding the highest service standards. At the heart of your mission is the commitment to delivering outstanding results with unwavering respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Exceed Service Expectations: Oversee and enhance service performance to delight customers and set DHL apart from competitors.
- Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with key clients to retain business and uncover new opportunities.
- Brand Building: Cultivate a positive image of DHL among customers, partners, industry groups, trade unions, and regulatory bodies to support our growth.
- Business Planning: Ensure that annual targets for revenue, cash flow, profit, and service levels are met, and address any deviations with effective corrective measures.
- Local Strategy: Develop and execute tactical plans aligned with our regional and global strategies, tailored to the local market environment.
- Leadership & Communication: Inspire and lead your team by clearly communicating strategies and goals, ensuring they are implemented effectively.
- Market Analysis: Monitor competitors and market trends to identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and market share growth.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and refine business processes to boost productivity and add value to our services.
- Financial Oversight: Safeguard the company’s financial health by managing legal, statutory, and internal compliance, as well as capital and debtor performance.
- Resource Management: Define organizational structure and allocate resources effectively to meet global, regional, and country-level objectives.

Minimum Requirements
- Educational Background: A university degree complemented by relevant commercial or business qualifications.
- Experience: Significant senior or general management experience in the express, logistics, aviation, or similar service industries, with proven success in managing a profit and loss entity of comparable scale.
- Business Acumen: A deep understanding of market dynamics and the external economic environment, with the ability to integrate these insights into both short- and long-term planning.
- Leadership Excellence: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and inspire teams while embodying DHL’s core leadership values.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in both written and spoken English and French is essential.
