Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Agricultural Degree.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the agricultural industry, particularly in sugarcane operations.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain management.
  • Experience working with sugarcane harvesters (preferred but not mandatory).
  • 1–2 years of experience in strategic planning for long-term operations.
  • Understanding of expense management and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with supply chain policies and procedures.
  • Human resources management skills, including handling disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Ability to draft and manage contracts and service level agreements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and workshop management.
  • General understanding of mechanical vehicle operations and configurations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational and Contract Management

  • Develop and implement procedures for daily operations.
  • Oversee cane haulage, loading, and overall site operations.
  • Monitor and control vehicle downtime to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Optimize fuel usage for cost-effective operations.
  • Manage and lead staff effectively.

2. Tyre Management

  • Track and manage tyres and scraping requirements.
  • Monitor tyre costs, quality, and supplier agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records in the company’s tyre management system.

3. Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Conduct regular service quality audits and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Engage in client entertainment when necessary to strengthen partnerships.

4. Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Prepare and submit financial reports, budgets, and cost analyses.
  • Conduct accurate operational forecasting.
  • Evaluate and compare suppliers based on costs and product quality.

5. Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Management

  • Ensure all team members receive necessary safety training.
  • Conduct regular housekeeping, safety, and quality audits, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Oversee:
    • Vehicle conditions
    • Driver appearances
    • Office standards
  • Manage accident reports and insurance claims efficiently.
