WWF Tanzania Country Office (WWF TCO) is currently seeking a qualified consultant to conduct a Midterm Review of the Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) Initiative in Africa. This initiative is designed to restore 13.5 million hectares of degraded and deforested land across nine African countries—Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe—by 2027. The project aligns with the AFR100 commitments and contributes to the Bonn Challenge goals.

Scope of the Midterm Review

The consultant will assess the initiative’s progress based on three key pillars:

  1. Policy and Governance – Evaluating the effectiveness of policies and governance frameworks supporting forest restoration.
  2. Financial Mechanisms – Reviewing funding sources, resource allocation, and financial sustainability.
  3. On-the-Ground Restoration Efforts – Assessing restoration activities, stakeholder engagement, and project impact.

The review process will involve desk studies, online surveys, and field visits to selected countries, including Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, and Zambia. The consultant will also identify challenges and provide recommendations to enhance project implementation.
