Job Overview
Britam Insurance is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Claims Assistant to join our team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and managing general insurance claims, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities
- Receive, acknowledge, register, and process claims in line with the existing insurance policies.
- Review submitted documents to ensure completeness and compliance with insurance claim requirements.
- Advise policyholders on claim procedures and provide guidance on coverage-related inquiries.
- Issue authorization letters and settlement offers as approved, while monitoring claim progress.
- Address both internal and external inquiries regarding benefits, claim processes, service providers, and documentation.
- Accurately record all claims transactions in the system, maintaining correct reserves.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and intermediaries, providing timely updates on claims progress.
- Appoint service providers and ensure efficient follow-ups to facilitate timely service delivery.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by management.
Key Performance Indicators
- Claims Turnaround Time: Efficient and timely claims processing.
- Cost Savings: Ensuring cost-effectiveness while processing claims.
- Compliance with SLA: Adherence to established Service Level Agreements.
- Customer Satisfaction Index: Maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
Reporting and Working Relationships
Internal Relationships:
- Reports to the Claims Supervisor.
- Collaborates with other internal departments as required.
External Relationships:
- Engages with Britam customers and insurance sector stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree (Insurance specialization preferred).
- Professional certification in Insurance (Certificate CII).
- Minimum one year of experience in the insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitor landscape.
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements and Britam’s products.
