🔎 About the Role
As Chief Engineer, you will lead the maintenance and engineering operations for our Zanzibar properties. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the seamless functioning of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, while upholding the highest safety and quality standards.
💼 Key Responsibilities
✔ Oversee & Coordinate Maintenance Operations – Ensure the efficiency and reliability of hotel equipment and facilities.
✔ Implement Preventive Maintenance Programs – Extend the lifespan of assets and reduce downtime.
✔ Ensure Compliance – Adhere to local regulations and RIU Hotels & Resorts standards.
✔ Lead the Engineering Team – Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to ensure high performance.
✔ Optimize Energy Management – Develop sustainability strategies to reduce energy consumption and costs.
✔ Collaborate with Other Departments – Work closely with hotel teams to support smooth operations.
✔ Manage Budgets & Reports – Prepare maintenance plans and reports for short- and long-term projects.
✔ Supervise External Contractors – Oversee repairs, renovations, and regular inspections.
✔ Ensure Safety & Compliance – Maintain high standards for health and safety protocols.
✔️ Qualifications & Skills Required
✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
✔ Proven experience in a Chief Engineer or senior maintenance role within the hospitality industry.
✔ Strong expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
✔ Experience in energy efficiency strategies and sustainability practices.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office & maintenance management software.
✔ Leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and problem-solve under pressure.
✔ Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English required).
