About the Role

TotalEnergies EP Tanzania is looking for a Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) Project Engineer to support its East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. The goal of the CFR package is to reduce CO₂ emissions by at least 30% at project start-up and develop a Net Zero Road Map for 2030.

As a CFR Project Engineer, you will work closely with the CFR Package Manager, ensuring the successful execution of CO₂ reduction initiatives through technical coordination, supplier management, and project oversight.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Development & Management

  • Support the CFR Package Manager in overseeing all activities related to CO₂ reduction.
  • Assist in setting CFR commitments and negotiate with electricity suppliers in Tanzania.
  • Develop conceptual studies, requirements, contracting strategies, budgets, and schedules for the CFR package.
  • Participate in the Call for Tender (CFT) process to select contractors for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), grid substations, and photovoltaic farms.

2. Stakeholder & Supplier Coordination

  • Build strong coordination between technical teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to achieve CO₂ reduction goals.
  • Act as the company’s representative for the CFR package and work closely with contract engineers to procure, monitor, and verify supplier progress and costs.
  • Collaborate with cost control and planning teams for budgeting and project tracking.

3. Compliance, Reporting & Site Visits

  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and contractual agreements.
  • Participate in dispute resolution with legal, insurance, and financial specialists.
  • Conduct regular site visits to EACOP construction sites, supplier workshops, and offices in Tanzania and Uganda (approx. once a month).
  • Travel abroad four times a year to supervise supplier activities.
  • Report regularly to the CFR Package Manager and attend meetings with partners, authorities, and other stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

1. Required Qualifications

Degree in Electrical, Energy, or Environmental Engineering

2. Technical Skills

✔ Strong background in electrical engineering, including battery generation, distribution, and photovoltaics
✔ Experience in technical project management within the energy or infrastructure sector
✔ Ability to monitor and manage contract execution, costs, and deliverables
✔ Strong organizational skills for stakeholder coordination and project execution
✔ Passion for the energy sector and carbon footprint reduction initiatives

3. Computing Skills

✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data processing)
✔ Knowledge of Power BI (data management & database handling)
✔ Experience with Artificial Intelligence tools (e.g., Copilot) is a plus

4. Language Requirements

French: C1 (Advanced)
English: C1 (Advanced)
