The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) is an independent government department that is responsible for managing the recruitment process for the public service employees in Tanzania. It was established under the Public Service Act No. 8 of 2002 which was then amended to Act No. 18 of 2007, section 29(1)) which states that “the PSRS ensures the recruitment is conducted fairly and transparently”

- Mission: To conduct recruitment using modern and fair processes while upholding the principles of equity, transparency and merit. Additionally, PSRS provides expert guidance to employers on employment-related matters.
