Job Description:
The University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Tanzanian candidate to join its team as a Business Development Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the university’s growth and development by driving marketing strategies, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting consultancy services.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, applicants must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, specializing in Marketing, Business Administration (Marketing), Entrepreneurship, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A strong academic record, with a minimum first-degree qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Business Development Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting market research to identify new business opportunities and trends.
- Collaborating with directors and department heads to develop and implement marketing strategies.
- Creating and improving business proposals to attract new and existing clients.
- Ensuring that the directorate meets its revenue targets.
- Assisting in defining market segments and estimating national demand for UDSM’s Continuing Education and Consultancy Services.
- Developing innovative marketing techniques to enhance the uptake of these services.
- Reviewing marketing progress reports and recommending necessary follow-up actions.
- Actively participating in sales, pitching, and bidding processes for Continuing Education and Consultancy services.
- Providing guidance on branding strategies for UDSM’s training and consultancy offerings.
- Coordinating the development of training materials, multimedia content, and marketing resources for various courses.
- Assisting in training staff involved in sales and marketing for Continuing Education and Consultancy services.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Director of Planning and Strategy (DPS) or the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of four years of experience in a related field.
Terms of Service:
- Contract: One-year renewable contract, based on performance and availability of funds.
