About the Vijana Kilimo Biashara (VKB) Project
The World Food Programme (WFP) has awarded BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania to work on Smallholder Sorghum and Sunflower Development Project which is locally known as Vijana Kilimo Biashara. This initiative aims at strengthening the sorghum and sunflower value chains while enhancing the participation of youth and women in agribusiness. This project is implemented in Meatu and Maswa districts in Simiyu region.
To support this mission, we are currently hiring for Agribusiness Officer to join our working team in Maswa, Simiyu, Tanzania
Position: Agribusiness Officer
As sellected agribusiness Officer will be responsible for overseeing the aspects of agribusiness development by ensuring that smallholder farmers, particularly youth and women gain access to markets, financial services and value-addition opportunities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
✔ Developing and implementing agribusiness strategies that align with the project goals.
✔ Establishing and strengthening market linkages between farmers, cooperatives and national/international buyers.
✔ Supporting value addition initiatives, such as processing, branding and packaging
✔ Working closely with private sector partners, farmer organizations and agribusiness service providers
✔ Designing and facilitating training programs for farmer groups on business planning and financial literacy.
✔ Developing tools to improve record-keeping and decision-making among smallholder farmers.
✔ Assisting farmer groups in creating business plans for small and medium-sized agribusiness ventures.

Qualifications and Experience
🎓 Education:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration or related field.
✔ A Master’s degree is added advantage.
💡 Skills and Competencies:
✔ Strong understanding of gender dynamics in agriculture
✔ Experience in training and capacity-building initiatives.
✔ Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting
✔ Excellent communication skills
🛠 Experience:
✔ Minimum 5 years of working experience in agribusiness, value chain analysis, agricultural financing or market linkages.
✔ Prior experience working on projects targeting youth and women in agriculture is highly desirable.
