Job Opportunity: Administrative and Consular Officer – Royal Norwegian Embassy, Dar es Salaam (February 2025)
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam is seeking a dedicated and skilled Administrative and Consular Officer to join its team starting in early May 2025. This role is an integral part of the administrative team, reporting directly to the Head of Administrative and Consular Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and consular support.
- Handle consular inquiries, with a focus on processing first-time passport applications and passport renewals for Norwegian citizens in the region (primarily Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi).
- Assist in financial operations and act as a backup for the accountant in their absence.
- Offer ICT support as needed, including troubleshooting printer connectivity and basic system functions.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
We are looking for a candidate who possesses:
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within an international organization such as an embassy.
- Strong experience in customer service and public engagement.
- Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in administration, finance/accounting, IT, or a related field, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of additional regional languages (Swahili, Luganda, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi) is an advantage.

Salary & Benefits:
The compensation package will align with the Norwegian Foreign Ministry’s salary scale for local employees of foreign missions.
