Job Overview

UONGOZI Institute is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Officer to join its team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, cash flow management, reconciliations, and other accounting-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities

As an Accounts Officer, your duties will include:

• Preparing monthly breakdowns of account balances.
• Developing cash flow projections and implementing cash optimization strategies.
• Assisting in the preparation of financial reports.
• Posting journal entries and performing monthly reconciliations.
• Handling cash and cheque transactions, including receiving and payments.
• Maintaining and balancing ledger accounts.
• Preparing and issuing invoices while ensuring timely follow-ups on payments.
• Keeping complete and accurate financial records.
• Verifying staff claims, imprests, and retirements with proper documentation.
• Processing statutory payments and payroll deductions such as PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, withholding tax, and pension contributions.
• Managing banking transactions, including withdrawals, deposits, and reconciliations.
• Conducting bank statement reconciliations.
• Participating in financial audits.

Qualifications and Experience

To be eligible for this role, candidates must have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration (majoring in Accountancy) from a recognized institution.
• At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in the accounting field.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary as per UONGOZI Institute’s salary scale (UIC).
