Key Responsibilities

  • Uphold Barrick’s safety culture by ensuring that all incidents and accidents are reported, investigated, and resolved promptly.
  • Identify and rectify any unsafe acts, hazards, or potential risks in the workplace.
  • Foster a cost-conscious work environment by promoting cost control measures across all departments.
  • Maintain accurate cost reports and apply activity-based costing methodologies.
  • Utilize SAP systems effectively for cost control and train department users on its functionalities.
  • Lead weekly and monthly cost review meetings, tracking cost-saving initiatives to align with budget targets.
  • Ensure timely financial reporting, including accruals, general ledger (GL) reconciliations, and key performance indicator (KPI) analysis.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Review cost allocation models and recommend improvements for efficiency.
  • Conduct inventory valuation and Net Realizable Value (NRV) tests at the end of each quarter.
  • Ensure accurate petty cash management, fixed asset updates, and store inventory records.
  • Process inter-company accounts and ensure timely foreign exchange updates.
  • Maintain all financial records as per company standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with audit schedules and financial regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Statutory registration in Tanzania is required.

Experience & Skills:

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and safety best practices.
  • Prior experience in an isolated work environment is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in SAP systems, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
