CRDB Bank Plc Board Member Recruitment Announcement
CRDB Bank Plc is one of Tanzania’s leading commercial banks. Since its establishment in 1996, the Bank has grown significantly, earning a reputation as the country’s most innovative and trusted financial institution. A key milestone in its journey was the listing on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange on June 17, 2009. The Bank operates four subsidiaries: CRDB Bank Burundi S.A., CRDB Insurance Company Limited, CRDB Bank Foundation, and CRDB Bank DR Congo S.A.
Invitation for Applications: Board Member Positions
The Board of Directors is inviting applications from qualified individuals to fill five (5) Board Member positions as follows:
- One (1) Independent Board Member representing all shareholders.
- One (1) Board Member representing shareholders owning between 1% and 10% of shares.
- Three (3) Board Members representing shareholders owning less than 1% of shares.
All Board Members will be elected by shareholders according to their respective shareholding categories. However, the Independent Board Member will be elected by all shareholders collectively.

Application Process
Interested candidates must submit the following documents:
- Application letter
- Updated curriculum vitae (CV)
- Certified copies of relevant academic and professional certificates
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Certified copies of the last page of their passport
- Recommendation letters from three references
- Declaration of any indebtedness to banks
Qualified candidates will be presented for election at the 30th Annual General Meeting on May 17, 2025. Those elected will serve a three-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants will receive confirmation upon submission, along with further details regarding the process.
Application Deadline: All applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
As per Section 5(2) of the Banking and Financial Institutions Act (Corporate Governance) Regulations, 2021, candidates should have expertise in at least one of the following fields:
- Banking
- Finance
- Accounting
- Auditing
- Law
- Economics
Desired Skills
In light of the evolving banking landscape, technological advancements, and the growth of digital banking, the following skills are particularly valuable:

Responsibilities of the Board of Directors
The Board plays a critical role in the governance and strategic direction of the Bank. Key responsibilities include:
- Defining the Bank’s vision, mission, and values to ensure long-term sustainability.
- Monitoring and evaluating the Bank’s strategic initiatives to achieve set goals.
- Establishing policies and objectives in collaboration with the Managing Director to safeguard the Bank’s assets and reputation.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Overseeing the Bank’s technology and systems to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
- Identifying and managing risks to maximize shareholder value.
