About TAWLA

The Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) is a Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1989, dedicated to advocating for gender equality and promoting human dignity through legal and institutional reforms, community action, media engagement, and policy development. As a technical partner in the BRIGHT project, TAWLA aims to improve adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) and nutrition care in the rural region of Tabora. The project offers a comprehensive range of services, including family planning, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, antenatal and postnatal care, nutrition support, and life skills promotion.

Job Overview

The Council Project Coordinator will serve as the key liaison between TAWLA and local government authorities within Tabora, focusing on implementing the BRIGHT project at the council level. This position will involve facilitating coordination, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting the achievement of the project’s goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the main contact between TAWLA and relevant council departments, including health, education, and social welfare, to coordinate project activities.
  • Support the effective implementation of BRIGHT project activities within the council, ensuring they align with the project work plan and relevant policies.
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and events with council officials and stakeholders to promote alignment and collaboration.
  • Assist in mobilizing resources and securing necessary approvals for project activities from council authorities.
  • Work closely with healthcare providers, community health workers, and other personnel to deliver ASRH and nutrition services.
  • Advocate for the project’s objectives and raise awareness about the importance of ASRH and nutrition services among local authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Identify and engage key stakeholders to ensure their support and active involvement in the project.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with council regulations, policies, and ethical standards.
  • Prepare weekly reports for the organization, maintaining accurate records of interactions and approvals.
  • Collaborate with the TAWLA project team to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned, in line with the project’s goals.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Project Planning, Management, Community Development, Law, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • 2-3 years of experience in projects related to GBV or sexual reproductive health rights.
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience in team building and project management.
  • Experience in advocating for policy change or guideline development related to public health or nutrition programs.
  • Knowledge of international quality standards for public health programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and presentation skills.
