Exciting Opportunity: Driver Positions (3 Vacancies)

We are hiring three (3) Drivers for a five-year USDA-funded project that aims to develop and transform small and medium-sized poultry enterprises (SMEs) into sustainable commercial businesses in Tanzania. This project will focus on:

✔ Strengthening the animal feed sector and integrating climate-smart technologies
✔ Improving animal health management
✔ Providing agricultural finance training
✔ Enhancing extension services and service providers

Job Summary

As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating vehicles to transport staff and cargo while ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and company policies. You will also be required to perform routine vehicle maintenance and keep records of trips and vehicle conditions.


Key Responsibilities

Safe Driving & Transport Duties

  • Drive staff and goods to assigned destinations while adhering to road safety regulations.
  • Follow pre-planned routes or use GPS/maps to navigate.
  • Maintain strict compliance with local and national traffic laws.

Vehicle Maintenance & Record-Keeping

  • Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.).
  • Keep track of vehicle servicing schedules and notify the employer in advance.
  • Maintain a clean and roadworthy vehicle at all times.
  • Ensure all vehicle documents (insurance, road license) are valid and up-to-date.
  • Report and document any accidents, mechanical issues, or road incidents.

Delivery & Logistical Support

  • Deliver parcels, letters, and important documents as required.
  • Assist in loading and unloading cargo.
  • Prepare and submit a monthly vehicle report, including fuel consumption, mileage, and expenses.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure the vehicle is secure at all times.
  • Be vigilant about road conditions and select the safest and most accessible routes.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Minimum Form IV (O-Level Certificate) or higher.
Driving License: Valid Class C Driving License.
Certification: Advanced Driver’s Certificate (Grade Two) from the National Institute of Transport or any recognized institution.
Experience: At least 3 years of professional driving experience.
Safety Record: No major accidents in the past 2 years.
Language Skills: Fluent in Swahili with a basic understanding of English.
Experience in NGOs: Previous experience working with an INGO is an added advantage.
