Exciting Job Opportunities at TANROADS – February 2025
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous entity under the Ministry of Works, tasked with the management of Tanzania’s trunk and regional roads network and airport construction. Established on July 1, 2000, TANROADS plays a crucial role in infrastructure development across the country.
As part of its commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure, TANROADS Mwanza is overseeing the construction of Simiyu Bridge (150M) and its 3KM approach road, upgrading it to bitumen standard. To support this project, TANROADS is looking to recruit highly qualified and competent professionals on a fixed-term contract basis for the following roles:
1. Resident Engineer (1 Position)
Minimum Qualifications:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
✔ Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) and holds a valid practicing certificate.
✔ A postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering is an added advantage.
✔ A minimum of 10 years of experience in road and bridge construction, design, supervision, and contract management under FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
✔ Served as a Resident Engineer or in an equivalent role for at least three (3) road construction projects of similar scale in the past decade.
✔ Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Lead and manage all technical and administrative site operations.
✔ Supervise contractor activities and oversee project work plans.
✔ Ensure quality control, contract compliance, and prepare monthly progress reports.
✔ Process contractor invoices and payments.
✔ Coordinate and participate in regular site meetings, preparing meeting minutes.
✔ Monitor the implementation of social and environmental impact mitigation measures during construction.
✔ Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, work records, instructions, test results, and financial records.
✔ Perform any additional duties assigned by the Project Manager (PM).
2. Topographic Surveyor (1 Position)
Minimum Qualifications:
✔ Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
✔ Registered as a Professional Land Surveyor with the National Council of Professional Surveyors (NCPS).
✔ A postgraduate qualification in surveying is an added advantage.
✔ At least five (5) years of experience in surveying for road and bridge design and/or construction.
✔ Proficiency in both Swahili and English (written and spoken).
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, and reports related to survey work.
✔ Analyze survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations.
✔ Identify and locate beacons and benchmarks to guide the contractor’s work.
✔ Conduct surveys to establish legal property boundaries.
✔ Record survey results, including location, contour, shape, and dimensions.
✔ Coordinate findings with engineers, clients, and other stakeholders.
✔ Adjust surveying instruments for precision and develop survey methods and procedures.
Contract Duration:
