Are you passionate about making a real impact in rural communities? CEFA (European Committee for Training and Agriculture), an Italian NGO with over 40 years of experience in Tanzania, is seeking dedicated professionals to join our team in Iringa. We are currently hiring for the following positions:
- Agricultural Coordinator (Iringa DC & Kilolo)
- Project Field Agent (Iringa DC & Kilolo)

1. Agricultural Coordinator
- Location: Iringa Office
- Starting Date: 15th April 2025 (11-month contract with possible extension)
- Salary: Up to 2,700,000 TZS (based on experience and qualifications)
About the Project
The Agricultural Coordinator will lead field operations for two key projects:
- Fighting Malnutrition in Iringa Rural (FM189/2021)
- Food Education for Communities in Kilolo District (FM144/2022)
These initiatives focus on reducing malnutrition by improving dietary diversity, increasing food availability, and promoting better hygiene practices in vulnerable communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and Support Field Agents in implementing project activities.
- Provide Technical Guidance on sustainable agriculture, irrigation, school gardens, and food production.
- Coordinate and Monitor Field Activities, including school gardens, poultry distribution, and irrigation system installations.
- Ensure Quality Data Collection, using the KOBO system for monitoring and evaluation.
- Train Farmers and Field Agents in sustainable agricultural techniques, food security, and hygiene.
- Engage with Local Authorities to strengthen community participation and project acceptance.
- Prepare Monthly Reports on project progress, challenges, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Food Security, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in agricultural project coordination, preferably with NGOs.
- Strong technical knowledge in sustainable agriculture, food security, and nutrition-sensitive farming.
- Experience in managing field teams and training rural communities.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (both written and spoken).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Tanzanian citizenship required.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Iringa Rural or Kilolo Districts.
- Familiarity with Italian NGOs operating in Tanzania.
- Valid driving license and experience driving in rural areas.
- Knowledge of local languages (Kihehe or Kibena).
2. Project Field Agent
- Location: Iringa Office
- Starting Date: 1st April 2025 (11-month contract with possible extension)
- Salary: Up to 1,300,000 TZS (based on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
As a Project Field Agent, you will work closely with communities in Iringa DC and Kilolo to implement nutrition and food security interventions. This role involves hands-on work in the field, supporting training programs, monitoring activities, and engaging with local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support School Gardens by distributing seeds, tools, and training materials.
- Monitor Wells & Irrigation Systems to ensure proper installation and functionality.
- Assist in Agricultural Demonstration Plots to showcase best farming practices.
- Organize Training Sessions for farmers, families, and agricultural extension officers.
- Ensure Distribution of Agricultural Inputs, such as silos, poultry, and gardening kits.
- Collect Field Data on beneficiaries and project progress, using KOBO system tools.
- Engage with Local Authorities and Beneficiaries to strengthen project impact.
- Prepare Monthly Reports on project activities and challenges.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Community Development, Project Management, or related fields.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in rural development, agriculture, or community-based projects.
- Knowledge of sustainable farming techniques and basic nutrition principles.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (both written and spoken).
- Tanzanian citizenship required.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Iringa Rural or Kilolo Districts.
- Prior work with Italian NGOs operating in Tanzania.
- Valid driving license and ability to drive on rural roads.
- Familiarity with local languages (Kihehe or Kibena).
