About AIRD

African Initiatives For Relief and Development (AIRD) was brought up in 2006, With the aim of helping individuals displaced by natural or man made disasters so that they can find safe area were they can rebuild their lives. The Organization works under the mission of going beyond relocation so that to create opportunities for both displaced individuals and their communities through fostering long term resilience plus hope.

The number of displaced people is highly increasing due to bad natural calamities that have brought many challenges as result of changes in climatic condition hence leaving high numbers of displaced people who need safe accommodation. In 2019, African Initiatives For Relief and Development (AIRD)  Tanzania made significant contributions in which;

  • 279  Emergency shelters were built in Tanzania
  • 1,918 Transitional shelters were constructed and distributed across the country
  • 997 Additional transitional shelters were provided
  • 1,000 Families were given new place or Houses to live

Beyond all these services, African Initiatives For Relief and Development (AIRD) provides essential non-food items so that to help displaced people restart their new lives. In 2019 it is recored that,  55,389 tons were transported across different countries including constructing of 637,000 liters tunks so that to improve on the access of water for the purpose of supporting Refugees.
