About the Role
Vodacom is looking for an experienced and motivated Assets Project Accountant to join its Local Finance team on a fixed-term basis. This role will support the Manager: Assets Project Accounting by managing asset and project accounting transactions in compliance with company policies, SOX regulations, and operational procedures.
As part of the Finance team, you will also support the Supply Chain Verification, Accounts Payable Business Support, and Network and ITB teams. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of capital expenditures (Capex), asset management, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Manage fixed asset additions and maintain proper records.

Track capital expenditure (Capex) commitments and prepare addition reports.

Verify asset requirements and support the capitalization of assets from ‘Assets Under Construction’ to ‘Completed Assets’.

Analyze VPC costs and related charges for projects such as Titan, and support capitalization processes.

Ensure compliance with Vodacom Group policies and maintain a strong control environment.

Support monthly closing activities:
-
Posting journals
-
Ageing reports for Assets Under Construction (AUC)

Fixed Asset Register (FAR) vs. General Ledger reconciliation
-
Depreciation analysis and reporting
-

Perform sub-ledger reconciliations and asset verification activities.
-
Handle budget adjustments, transfers, and GRIR reconciliations.

Review foreign exchange impacts on Capex projects.

Meet KPI targets for asset project accounting.

Manage the fixed asset disposal process, including:

Requesting and logging disposal approvals

Processing asset removals
-
Running post-disposal reports

Qualifications and Experience
-
Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or Advanced Diploma in Accounting
-
CPA or ACCA qualifications will be an added advantage
-
2–4 years of experience in a similar finance/accounting role

Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting and project cost tracking

Excellent Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI and reporting tools is a plus

Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
-
Ability to adapt, learn quickly, and work across teams
